Reflection
Digital Media refers to digitized content that can be transmitted over the internet or computer. Audio graphics, audio visuals and text work on a blog can all be classified as Digital Media. Digital Media has definitely come a long way and continues to grow in this technological era. In the not so distant past, people gathered information from sources such as radio, television and newspaper. All this changed with the intervention of the computer.
My focus of study for English 204 was on the genre Persuasive Writing. Persuasive writers employ many techniques to improve their argument to show support for their claims which entails using words to convince the reader or readers to take the stance of the writer. For this blog I decided to use an advertisement as a multi- modial composition using audio, images and persuasive advertisements techniques such as logical,bandwagon and emotional appeals. As more people realize the importance of the internet, using this form of technology is an excellent way of reaching wide audiences.
Reflecting on putting this process together, It must say it was my first time doing something of that nature. Surprisingly the process was not too difficult as I previously thought it was going to be. putting together the slides (Visuals) choosing the background music and and recording the audio were all at my fingertips or at a touch of a button, though I must admit, that it took a bit of patience and at least two bits of editing to get the final process done. I encountered a bit of a problem when I had to do the voice recording as I had the cold and my voice was hoarse. I therefore had to ask one of my friends to help me, to which she agreed and credit must be given. By doing compositions of this sort, I can certainly see the benefits of using multi media to cater to the different needs of learners in the classroom, in a well executed lesson, students will see the benefits of using persuasion through the advertisement techniques and master the art of persuasion to develop their craft during the persuasive writing class.

great job on the advertisement. you made a valid point, everything is available at your fingertips with the click of a button. With this era of technological advancements we must find creative ways of including it in our classroom. However, many of us encounter challenges when it come to using technology effectively. It is hard to keep up with all the changes that are happening because of technology. despite all the challenges, it is a great way to bring diversity and life to the classroom.
ReplyDeleteWow! I enjoyed your advertisement, it was fun, it was informative and it was persuasive. I feel like i would enjoy doing something like this and wish you could be my teacher. Students will definitely enjoy lessons presented in this manner and even they will be eager to try creating their own media. A classroom like this will spark interest, encourage students to participate and effectively aid in learning.
